The owners of the latest addition to the Whitehaven fleet, the 6000 Flybridge, named Koa Moana (‘Ocean Warrior’ in Hawaiian), couldn’t be more thrilled!
They fell in love with sistership, La Robelle, which they inspected at the 2018 Sydney International Boat Show and while their own Whitehaven is specced very closely, it’s absolutely a custom-crafted original. Again, our fully enclosed tender garage which can hold a 3.6 metre RIB was part of what compelled the ecstatic new owners to start their Whitehaven journey. This feature is unique to Whitehaven for this class of vessel.
The owners of Koa Moana opted for an airy, open plan saloon and galley for easy entertaining, without an island bench. They instead added a hopper window and wet bar area between the cockpit and galley for seamless flow, with bar stools and refrigeration on the cockpit side. The cockpit also features a large solid teak table which provides comfortable seating for family and friends to dine outdoors or sit back and relax, either soaking up the sun or shaded under the electronic SureShade awning.
The owners personalised stamp and impeccable taste is evident throughout the vessel. They selected a vibrant palm print fabric for the bedheads in each of the three cabins, together with décor in a chic, fresh neutral palette. This is complimented by bronze tap ware and a clever switch glass bathroom wall. They also opted for the sun pad on the foredeck with sunshade.
Koa Moana is fitted with twin CAT 18 engines, the Twin Disc Express Positions System (EPS) which maintains the vessel in a fixed position and heading at the touch of a button, and Twin Disc Express Joystick System (EJS) which facilitates docking and slow speed manoeuvring. The Seakeeper 16 is ideal for motor yachts up to 60 feet and dramatically reduces the vessels roll no matter what the sea state.
The owners were delighted to have had such a significant hand in the custom design of their new Whitehaven and thoroughly enjoyed the experience of creating their individual and very bespoke Whitehaven. The final step in the build process prior to Koa Moana making her journey to Australia, was for the Whitehaven team to accompany the new owners to Taiwan for the final inspection and sea trial from the Port of Kaohsiung.
The owners are looking forward to Koa Moana’s first coastal trip from Southport to Sydney and cruising calm and scenic Pittwater with family and friends.
