Hot off the press

The second Harbour Classic 40 quietly slipped into Australia earlier this year.  Her arrival did not go unnoticed by the boating media as they were keen to discover the second hull in this new concept for Whitehaven Motor Yachts.

Trade a Boat completed a private tour and boat trial which will be published in the coming edition yet what did others have to say?

This new Harbour Classic 40 from Whitehaven is the second hull in the series but the eighth hull produced from the original design concept from renowned New Zealander designer Bill Upfold. It’s the reincarnation of the Classic day boat or gentleman’s cruiser, but this latest version has a very modern twist. Most significantly, the second Harbour Classic 40 is powered by twin Volvo Penta IPS 400’s offering different handling, speed and manoeuvrability from the first.

Seeking a modern aesthetic, the interior is finishing in Ash Oak and taupe embossed Majilite wall panels whilst the hull is finishing in a bold but subtle Sandstone Bronze. Changes to the interior has resulted in increased privacy in the forward cabin whilst the retractable awning over the cockpit concealed into the more traditional looking short roof gives the flexibility to increase or decrease sun exposure and wind flow.

All round, it is an impressive day or harbour cruiser for the gentleman boater.

But don’t take our word for it, see what Ocean Magazine, Sail World, Boats Online, Pacific Powerboat and YachtHub had to say.
